Replacing your skirtings
The idea of replacing skirting boards can be a daunting task which puts most off the job, but it isn’t actually a big task. If you have the right tools and DIY knowledge it can be a very straightforward job which will make your home look a thousand times tidier and cleaner.
Some choose to revamp skirting boards but this involves a lot of labour – sanding, patch repairs and glossing. The sanding alone is quite time consuming and patching can be a bit of a nightmare. If your skirtings are quite old it would be a much easier task to replace.
All you will require are some basic tools and a decent mitre saw. Once purchasing the new skirting, you will have to measure and trim to size. You then can either screw or glue on the new skirting. Once all in place you can paint.
Top Tip – if you are working with anything other than a standard square/rectangle room, we would always advise to call in the professionals. Stairs and awkward shaped rooms usually require more knowledge and work.
