The Need-to-Know on Polycarbonate Roofing
Polycarbonate roofing is a strong, versatile and lightweight thermoplastic material that can be used in a variety of commercial and residential settings. Typically, in the residential capacity, the clear polycarbonate sheet option is used for conservatories, patios and decks. This helps natural light to get through and usually has a protective film layer that filters out the sun’s UV rays.
The Foam-backed polycarbonate sheets are more commonly used in commercial settings for industrial buildings, like warehouses, but this option can also be used residentially for carports or sheds with a slightly sloped roof. The good thing about polycarbonate roofing is that it is incredibly durable and virtually unbreakable, but compared to plastic or glass, polycarbonate panels can be much more expensive. However, this material is incredibly resistant to heat, sunlight, snow and rain which gives it incredible longevity.
There are advantages and disadvantages to using polycarbonate sheets but they are an excellent option if you are looking for a durable and practical roofing material for the type of structures mentioned above.
